This comic was written as part of a small crash course on plurality. It is by no means extensive, perfectly accurate, or a complete guide! It's meant to simplify concepts to make them easier to understand, especially for those that know next to nothing about plurality.
That said, let's get on to descriptions!
Text: "PLURALITY, or being plural, is the experience of sharing your brain with other people."
Drawing: Two cloud-like bubbles placed side by side. The left is marked "singlet," and contains a single pink circle marked "person." The right is marked "plural," and has several colored circles inside, all marked as "people."
Text: This is most commonly associated with DID & OSDD (emphasized), but it also exists outside of that!
Text: The main thing about plurality is having headmates, but there's lots more to it!
Drawing: Three images.
The first is marked "headspace," and is a picture of a building with a tree next to it.
The second is marked as "switching," and shows two people next to each other: the left person is pink, the right person is blue-ish purple. There's an arrow between them, pointing to the right.
The third is marked "internal communication," and shows a cloud-like bubble with two different colored sound markers pointing towards each other.
Text: However, not everyone experiences all of these
A text heavy panel with no drawings. Text reads:
Different systems tend to experience different things, or even the same things differently! Some parts that might affect this are:
Text: Speaking of DID/OSDD, there's a lot of overlap with plurality. Some people think of it like this:
Drawing: A Venn diagram. On the left is DID/OSDD, on the right is plurality. In the center are the terms headmates, switching, and amnesia, while the left has just "caused by trauma" and the right has "caused by many things."
Text: But this isn't the best way to look at it.
Text: Really it's more like this:
Drawing: The word PLURALITY written in an arch. Beneath it are the terms DID, OSDD, traumagenic, endogenic, tulpas, soulbonds, and spiritual systems
Text: Where "plurality" is an umbrella that covers DID, OSDD, & others
Another text-heavy panel. Contents:
Some of these "others" are like this:
traumagenic: formed because of trauma
endogenic: formed for a reason outside of trauma; is also an umbrella!
parogenic: formed intentionally, or through conscious thought
spiri-/metagenic: formed for spiritual reasons
protogenic: formed at/around birth
Also text-heavy. Contents:
The bottom line is this: PLURALITY covers ALL (emphasized) experiences of being more than one. DID & OSDD are just some of those experiences! There are plenty more (emphasized) where that came from
Text: And there you go! Now you know more about the complex thing called PLURALITY
Drawing: A small heart
Text: Stay tuned for more!
